How to remove haircolor without Bleach: Vitamin C Shampoo I've been using semi-permanent color (also sometimes called direct dye) on my hair for as long as I remember, and whenever I want to refresh the color or switch colors, I've used a "Bleach Bath"- which is essentially a concoction of bleach powder, usually a little developer, and shampoo. It works like a charm and it less damaging that direct bleach, but let's not kid ourselves it's still damaging the hair. I recently learned of another method that give less dramatic results, without the damage, so I decided to try it out and see for myself, and I'm happy to report it does in fact remove color, albeit not in the dramatic way a bleach bath would. It's almost like a hyper-clarifying shampoo: it removed a bit of color, even clarified the color of my own natural hair at the roots, and made my hair really shiny. It makes your hair kinda smell for a day or two after so it's definitely doing something, but manage your expectations.
